On 21 August, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that Bihar will soon see the launch of four more Amrit Bharat Express trains, strengthening budget-friendly travel for passengers.

The upcoming trains will connect Gaya with Delhi, Saharsa with Amritsar, Chhapra with Delhi, and Muzaffarpur with Hyderabad. With these additions, the state’s total count of Amrit Bharat Express trains will rise to 12.

Currently, nine Amrit Bharat services are running across India, eight of which are linked to Bihar. Popular routes include Darbhanga–Anand Vihar, Rajendranagar–New Delhi, and Sitamarhi–Delhi.

Launched in 2023, Amrit Bharat Express is a modern yet economical train designed for lower-income and middle-class passengers. A 1,000 km ride costs only about ₹450.

The trains feature modern facilities such as modular washrooms, improved berths, charging points, pantry cars, and fire detection systems. Push-pull technology enables them to run at higher speeds. Indian Railways aims to introduce 100 Amrit Bharat Express trains in total.
