Fresh Encounter Breaks Out in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, as Security Forces Continue Major Anti-Terrorist Operation

A fresh encounter erupted in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district on Monday, with security forces trapping three terrorists after cordoning off the Panjthirthi area. This marks the second gun battle between the forces and terrorists in just three days, prompting a large-scale operation by the security personnel.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Inspector General Shiv Kumar Sharma stated that the operation would continue until all terrorists were neutralized. He urged residents in nearby border areas to report any suspicious activities to assist in the operation.

"The operation is ongoing, and as long as there is even one terrorist left, the Jammu and Kashmir Police will remain committed to its mission," Sharma told reporters in Reasi. "Our forces are dedicated to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of Jammu and Kashmir."

The latest developments come just days after two terrorists were killed, and four police personnel lost their lives in action in the same area last week. Five security personnel, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, were also injured and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital.

For nearly five days, teams from the Indian Army, National Security Guards (NSG), Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu and Kashmir Police's Special Operations Group, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been conducting intensive searches in Kathua. The operation is being led by Nalin Prabhat, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who confirmed the killing of two terrorists and expressed confidence that the remaining militants would soon be neutralized.

As the operation continues, authorities remain vigilant, prioritizing the safety of civilians and working relentlessly to eliminate terrorism in the region.
