Continuous rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has claimed 37 lives and caused widespread destruction across the state, according to the Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority. Officials estimate that property worth over ₹400 crore has been damaged as relentless downpours trigger landslides, road blockages, and flooding.

Authorities warned that the death toll could rise further as rescue operations continue in several districts.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert forecasting heavy rainfall in the state until July 7, urging residents to remain cautious.

Mandi district has emerged as the worst-hit area, with the Thunag subdivision particularly affected. Roads remain closed, and water and electricity services have been severely disrupted.

Officials reported that 40 people are missing in Mandi alone. The state government has established relief camps to shelter affected families, while the Indian Air Force has air-dropped food supplies to inaccessible areas cut off by the floods.

Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, continue to work round the clock to evacuate stranded residents and restore essential services.
