Hyderabad Police have uncovered a drug peddling network that allegedly exploited an LGBTQ dating app to sell narcotics. Two peddlers and seven consumers — among them a doctor and a sex worker — were arrested during the operation.
Investigators revealed that the accused were misusing Grindr, a popular location-based app for the LGBTQ community, as a discreet platform to connect with potential buyers. Once contact was established, the suspects allegedly supplied MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) to consumers.
Police said the arrests highlight how social networking and dating apps are increasingly being misused for illegal activities, urging users to remain vigilant while reiterating their commitment to crack down on narcotics trafficking in the city.
