IMD Forecasts Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms Across Northeast, Central, and Southern India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy showers over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura for the next three days.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in parts of central and southern Peninsular India until September 25.

In addition, the IMD forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over several states and regions, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and West Madhya Pradesh, extending through tomorrow.

The weather department also warned of squally winds over parts of the southwest and west-central Arabian Sea, as well as along and off the Somalia coast today.

Authorities have advised residents and travelers to remain cautious, particularly in regions expecting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
