India Launches 24 Precision Strikes on Terror Camps in Pakistan, Killing Over 70 Militants

In a powerful and calculated military response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Armed Forces executed 24 precision missile strikes early Wednesday targeting nine high-value terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The strikes were conducted at 1:44 a.m., hitting known strongholds of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Muridke and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Bahawalpur.

According to official figures, the coordinated attacks have eliminated over 70 terrorists and injured more than 60, delivering a significant blow to the operational strength of both terror organizations.

Response to Pahalgam Terror Attack

The strikes come just weeks after the Pahalgam massacre in Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag district, which resulted in the deaths of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. The Indian government had vowed a strong response, and these precision attacks mark the execution of that commitment.

In a statement, the Ministry of Defence said, “Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military installations have been targeted.” The ministry emphasized that the operation was aimed solely at terrorist infrastructure used to plan and execute cross-border attacks against India.

India’s Stance: Restraint with Resolve

The government reiterated its stand on accountability for terrorism, stating that those involved in the Pahalgam attack will be pursued to the “ends of the earth.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged that the punishment for the perpetrators will be “beyond their imagination.”

India's strikes occurred just hours ahead of a nationwide civil defence drill, spanning 244 districts, to simulate responses to potential hostile attacks—a move indicating continued vigilance and preparedness.

With tensions continuing to rise along the border, India’s message is clear: terrorism will be met with precise and proportionate force, while maintaining a policy of non-escalation toward conventional conflict.
