India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has categorically denied reports circulating on social media and foreign outlets claiming destruction of Indian Air Force installations and critical defence systems. The allegations, which suggest that air force bases in Sirsa and Suratgarh, as well as the S-400 air defence system in Adampur, were destroyed, are entirely false, Mr. Misri said.
“These claims are completely baseless and part of a deliberate disinformation campaign,” said the Foreign Secretary in a statement issued Saturday. “No such attacks have taken place, and our critical defence and infrastructure systems remain fully operational.”
Mr. Misri also debunked additional rumors suggesting widespread destruction of India’s power grids, cyber infrastructure, and military command systems. “Claims have been made about large sections of critical Indian infrastructure, power systems, and cyber systems being attacked and destroyed. These are entirely false,” he reiterated.
The Foreign Secretary directly accused Pakistan of “peddling lies” to create confusion and panic amid ongoing military tensions between the two nations. He urged citizens and media outlets to rely solely on verified information from official Indian government channels and avoid spreading unverified reports.
India’s firm rebuttal comes amid heightened cross-border conflict, with both nations trading accusations and responding militarily. In this volatile atmosphere, disinformation poses a serious risk to public perception and national morale, officials said.
Government agencies have been instructed to monitor and counter such propaganda efforts swiftly, and digital platforms are being asked to flag and remove misleading content.
