Indian Army Denies ULFA-I Claim of Cross-Border Drone Strikes in Myanmar
Published on

The Indian Army has categorically denied claims made by the banned insurgent group United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) that it carried out drone strikes on the outfit’s eastern headquarters located in Myanmar.

On Sunday, ULFA-I alleged that its base across the border was targeted in the early hours by drone attacks, resulting in the death of 19 cadres and injuries to 19 others. The group claimed that the strikes were part of a coordinated cross-border offensive by Indian forces.

According to the ULFA-I’s statement, among those killed was senior commander Nayan Medhi. The group also reported that several members of Manipuri insurgent outfits, including the Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) — the political arm of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) — were present at the camp during the alleged strikes. Some of them are believed to have been killed or injured as well.

However, official sources within the Indian Army have firmly denied any involvement in such an operation, dismissing the group’s claims as baseless.

The situation remains tense as further verification of the incident is awaited, and the region continues to be monitored closely by both Indian and Myanmar authorities.
