Tensions in the Middle East surged dramatically after Iran launched a wave of missile attacks on Israel, just hours after coordinated US-Israeli airstrikes targeted three of Tehran’s most critical nuclear facilities.
Acting under President Donald Trump’s orders, the United States deployed B-2 stealth bombers and launched Tomahawk missiles to hit the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites—locations regarded as pillars of Iran’s uranium enrichment programme. Trump hailed the mission as a "spectacular military success," claiming the targets were "completely and totally obliterated." He also warned Tehran of "even greater consequences" should it refuse to pursue peace.
In a swift and forceful response, Iran fired at least 27 missiles in two waves towards Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa. The attacks injured at least 11 people and caused extensive damage to homes and infrastructure. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed to have targeted Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv. Air raid sirens blared across the country as emergency services responded to at least ten impact sites, with major destruction reported in central Israel and Haifa.
Iran’s government condemned the US-led strikes as a "blatant violation of international law" and called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Tehran warned of “everlasting consequences” and reiterated its commitment to defending its sovereignty.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised Trump’s "bold decision," calling the strikes a historic turning point. He said the operation would prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and lauded the US-Israel alliance as “unshakeable,” positioning the strike as crucial to regional and global security.
The latest violence follows Israel’s earlier military campaign—dubbed Operation Rising Lion—which targeted multiple sites inside Iran over nuclear concerns. With both the US and Iran now actively engaged, the conflict has entered a volatile new phase, fuelling fears of a broader regional war.
