
Jagdeep Dhankhar has resigned from the post of Vice President of India, citing health reasons. In a letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, he stated that he was stepping down with immediate effect in order to prioritize his health and follow medical advice.
In his resignation letter submitted under Article 67(a) of the Constitution, Dhankhar mentioned that he was taking this step due to health-related concerns and on the advice of his doctors.
“I hereby resign from the office of the Vice President of India with immediate effect, keeping in view my health priorities and in adherence to medical advice,” Dhankhar wrote in his letter to President Murmu.
He also expressed gratitude to President Murmu for her cooperation and cordial relations, and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Council of Ministers for their support and guidance during his tenure. Notably, his term was originally set to end in 2027.
