A tragic accident took place during a Shri Krishna Janmashtami procession in the Ramantpur area of Hyderabad, Telangana, on Sunday night. In Gokulnagar, under the Uppal police station limits, a chariot carrying the idol of Lord Krishna came into contact with high-tension power lines, leaving five people dead and four others seriously injured.
How the accident occurred
Police said the mishap happened while repairs were being carried out on the vehicle pulling the chariot. During this time, some local youths tried to pull the chariot manually, unaware of the overhead power cables. The chariot touched the high-tension wires, sending an electric shock through nine people pulling it. Five died on the spot, while four sustained critical injuries.
