Jailed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, facing trial in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case, on Tuesday made a startling statement before the City Civil and Sessions Court, asking the judge to give him "poison."

Darshan, who appeared via video conferencing, claimed he had not seen sunlight for several days as he was not allowed outdoors in prison. He further alleged that his hands had developed fungus, his clothes emitted a foul smell, and he was struggling with severe health and hygiene issues behind bars.

Expressing frustration over his condition, the actor told the court that he could no longer bear the ordeal and pleaded for poison instead.

The remarks have raised concerns about prison conditions and inmate welfare, even as the trial in the murder case continues to draw widespread public attention in Karnataka.
