
A high-ranking police official, whose daughter, Ranya Rao, was apprehended at Bengaluru airport on Monday night after authorities discovered 14.8 kilograms of gold in her possession, has expressed feelings of being "shocked and devastated" by the incident. He has also attempted to separate himself from the situation. "The law will take its course. My career remains untarnished", he stated.
Ramachandra Rao, the Director-General of Police for the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation, expressed his profound shock and devastation upon learning of the situation through the media, stating, "As any father would, I was taken aback. I had no prior knowledge of these matters and prefer not to comment further." He added, "She resides separately with her husband, and there may have been some issues arising from family matters between them".
Ranya Rao is the stepdaughter of Ramachandra Rao. The senior police officer entered into a second marriage following the death of his first wife. His second wife has two daughters from her previous marriage, one of whom is Ranya.
