Fallen Hero from Haryana's Palwal District Remembered for Bravery and Service

Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, a 32-year-old soldier from Haryana’s Palwal district, was killed in intense cross-border shelling by Pakistan’s army in the early hours of Wednesday, following India’s execution of ‘Operation Sindoor’. The operation reportedly targeted militant positions across the Line of Control (LoC), sparking a fierce artillery and mortar exchange.

A native of Mohammadpur village, Dinesh was patrolling the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district when the attack occurred. His father, Daya Ram Sharma, confirmed that the family was informed of his death on Wednesday morning. “He was recruited in 2014 and had recently been promoted to the rank of Lance Naik,” Sharma said. “His sacrifice is a matter of pride not just for us but for the entire nation.”

In an emotional tribute, the bereaved father shared that two of his other sons are also serving in the Indian Army. He added that he would fully support Dinesh’s young son if he chooses to join the forces in the future, calling it a way to honor and continue his father’s legacy.

Village sarpanch Bhup Ram provided additional details, noting that Dinesh was the eldest among five brothers. Two of his younger siblings, Kapil and Hardut, have joined the armed forces as Agniveers, while another, Pushpender, is currently a student. His brother Vishnu works as a farmer. Dinesh is survived by his wife, Seema, an advocate who is currently expecting their third child. The couple already has a son and a daughter.

The district administration has arranged for his last rites to be performed on Thursday, and villagers are expected to turn out in large numbers to honor their local hero.
