Lufthansa Flight to Hyderabad Returns to Frankfurt After Denied Landing Permission in India
Published on

A Lufthansa flight en route to Hyderabad was forced to return to Frankfurt on Sunday after it reportedly did not receive landing clearance from Indian aviation authorities.

Flight LH752 took off from Frankfurt, Germany, at approximately 14:14 local time and was scheduled to arrive at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Monday morning. However, flight tracker data showed the aircraft made a mid-air U-turn several hours into its journey and landed back at Frankfurt Airport late Sunday evening.

Passengers were left confused and frustrated as they were informed mid-flight that the plane did not have “permission to land” in India. A female passenger onboard, traveling from the United States to visit her mother in Hyderabad, told PTI, “We just landed back in Frankfurt around 15 minutes ago and all we were told is that Hyderabad hasn’t given permission to land the flight there.”

Lufthansa staff have since arranged overnight accommodation for affected passengers, with the flight reportedly rescheduled for Monday morning.

While there has been no official comment yet from Indian aviation authorities or Lufthansa regarding the reason behind the denied landing permission, the incident has sparked concerns about coordination issues between international airlines and destination airports.

Further updates are awaited as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the diversion.
