Maharashtra’s Minister of State for Public Health, Water Supply and Sanitation, Meghana Bordikar, has come under fire after a video emerged allegedly showing her threatening to slap a village officer during a government event in Parbhani district.

The incident reportedly took place in Bori village, located in Jintur taluka, during a public function related to a state welfare scheme. In the widely circulated clip, Bordikar is heard berating the gram sevak for not ensuring the presence of scheme beneficiaries at the event.

“If you work like this, remember these are Meghana Bordikar’s words — I’ll slap you. Who pays your salary? You’ll be suspended immediately,” the minister is heard saying in the video. She continues: “Do you think I don’t know how you operate? If you want to carry loads for a living, quit this job.”

The video quickly went viral, drawing criticism from opposition leaders, most notably NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Pawar questioned the minister’s conduct and slammed the BJP-led government.

“Who gave her the right to threaten a gram sevak?” Pawar asked. “How can a junior minister threaten a government employee at a public event simply for not bringing enough beneficiaries?”

He further targeted Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, stating, “Devendra Fadnavis sir, what upright ministers you have chosen! It’s not just the image of your cabinet that’s at stake — this reflects poorly on the dignity of Maharashtra as a whole.”
