A 35-year-old man in Nagpur was filmed carrying his wife’s body on a motorbike after she was killed in a road accident, as his desperate pleas for help went unanswered. The disturbing incident, recorded in a video that has since gone viral, occurred on Raksha Bandhan, 9 August, along the Nagpur–Jabalpur National Highway.
Police identified the man as Amit Yadav. He and his wife, Gyarsi, were travelling from Nagpur’s Lonara to Karanpur in Madhya Pradesh when a speeding truck struck them near Morphata. Gyarsi fell onto the road and was fatally run over. The truck driver fled.
According to officials, Amit tried to stop passing vehicles, but no one offered help. Left with no choice, he tied his wife’s body to his bike to transport it to their native village in Madhya Pradesh. Police eventually stopped him, took the body to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Nagpur for post-mortem, and registered an accidental death case.
Authorities said further action will follow once the autopsy report is received. The couple were residents of Lonara, originally from Seoni in Madhya Pradesh.
