Following the SCO summit in Tianjin, President Vladimir Putin waited approximately 10 minutes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi before they departed together for their bilateral meeting at the Ritz Carlton hotel. The two leaders traveled in Putin's Russian-made Aurus sedan, a vehicle recently gifted by Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting both personal camaraderie and the symbolic strength of India-Russia relations.

Joint Car Ride and Strategic Talks

During the approximately 45-minute car journey, Modi and Putin engaged in a broad and candid conversation encompassing both bilateral and global issues. The drive itself sent a deliberate diplomatic message, underlining trust and the degree of personal chemistry between the leaders. Upon arrival at the Ritz Carlton, both continued their discussion for a further 45 minutes in a private setting, away from their official delegations.

The session was followed by a comprehensive bilateral meeting that lasted for one hour. Both leaders addressed a wide agenda, including deepening cooperation in trade, energy, security, space, and cultural exchanges. Regional and global challenges were reviewed, with particular attention given to ongoing tensions and peace efforts regarding Ukraine. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the India-Russia strategic partnership, emphasizing the need for a durable and peaceful resolution to global conflicts.
