Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Karnataka Housing and Minorities Welfare Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan made a dramatic appeal, asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to give him a suicide bomb so he could personally attack Pakistan. His controversial yet interesting statement quickly went viral, sparking sharp political reactions.
Speaking at a press conference, Minister Khan said, “Pakistan has always been an enemy of India. In such a painful time, if PM Modi and Home Minister Shah give me a chance, I am ready to go to the border myself and fight.”
In a now-viral video, Khan is seen saying, “We are all Indians. We have no relation with Pakistan. Pakistan has always been our enemy. I am ready to go to Pakistan and fight. Modi, Shah should give me a suicide bomb, I will wear it and strike Pakistan.”
Khan also declared that he is willing to sacrifice his life for the country and urged the Centre to take decisive action. Though people around him started laughing during his statement, Khan clarified, “I am not joking or speaking in a humorous tone. I am very serious about this.” He stressed the need for all Indians to unite against terrorism.
On 22 April, terrorists brutally gunned down 26 tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Disguised in army uniforms, the militants first checked IDs and religious identities before targeting Hindus in the Baisaran Valley.
The Pakistan-backed terror group The Resistance Front (TRF), associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. It is being considered the worst attack in the region since the Pulwama attack.
