Multiple Delhi Schools Evacuated After Bomb Threats Amid Ongoing Hoax Call Surge
Published on

Several schools in Delhi, including Delhi Public School Dwarka, Krishna Model Public School, and Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, received bomb threats today, causing immediate evacuations. Some schools in the Najafgarh area were targeted while examinations were underway, heightening concerns among students and parents.

Officials reported that the Delhi Fire Department received the first call from a school in Najafgarh around 6:30 am. Police teams and bomb disposal squads rushed to the schools, ensuring that students and staff were safely evacuated as a precaution. Thorough searches of the premises are currently underway.

Delhi-NCR has faced a surge in hoax bomb threats since January, with more than 150 schools and colleges targeted in just eight months. Each incident prompts sirens, evacuations, and large police deployments, though no real danger has been found. Even hotels, hospitals, and courts have been affected, including recent threats on September 13 targeting Hotel Taj Palace and two Max Hospital branches, and last week’s bomb threat to the Delhi High Court.

In response, the Delhi government has introduced new safety protocols for schools, following Delhi High Court directives. The guidelines focus on prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery, requiring schools to install additional CCTV cameras, conduct regular evacuation drills, update safety checks, and provide support for children with disabilities during emergencies. Schools must now also submit monthly safety reports to district officials to ensure compliance and readiness.
