The high-profile Noida dowry death case involving Nikki Bhati has taken a surprising turn with fresh allegations surfacing against her own family. While Nikki’s family had accused her husband and in-laws of dowry harassment, Minakshi, the estranged wife of Nikki’s brother Rohit Payla, has now alleged that she too faced similar harassment from her in-laws.
Rohit and Minakshi, 31, married in 2016. Minakshi claims her family had given a car as dowry, which her in-laws allegedly sold, calling it “inauspicious.” She further alleged that the Payla family demanded a new model SUV and cash as replacement dowry. When her family refused, Minakshi says she was sent back to her parents’ home.
The matter was reportedly taken to the village panchayat, which suggested that either Rs 35 lakh (spent on her wedding) be returned to Minakshi’s family so she could be remarried, or that the Paylas accept her back as their daughter-in-law.
According to Minakshi, the dispute remained unresolved, with Nikki Bhati’s father, Bhikhari Singh Payla, and other family members refusing to accept her. The fresh allegations add a new layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation into Nikki Bhati’s tragic death.
