Pakistan Confirms 26 Killed in Indian Strikes Along LoC, Toll Revised from Earlier Estimate

In a fresh escalation of the ongoing conflict, Pakistan’s military has confirmed that 26 people were killed and 46 injured in Indian air strikes and cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC). This update comes from Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for Pakistan’s armed forces, during an official press briefing.

Earlier, Pakistan had reported eight fatalities, but the number has now been significantly revised upward, reflecting the extent of the damage inflicted during India’s ongoing Operation Sindoor—a precision military campaign aimed at neutralizing terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The strikes were carried out in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians, including one Nepali national. India has maintained that its operations are targeted, restrained, and aimed exclusively at terror infrastructure, not civilian or military facilities.

Rising Civilian Casualties Raise Global Concern

Pakistan has condemned the strikes, accusing India of ceasefire violations and unprovoked aggression, and has vowed “firm retaliation.” The rising civilian toll could fuel further tensions in the region, prompting concern among international observers and diplomatic circles.

India has yet to officially respond to the updated casualty figures, but it continues to emphasize the precision nature of its operations and its commitment to targeting only those responsible for terror activities.

As both nations escalate rhetoric and mobilize along the LoC, the situation remains tense and fluid, with the risk of further confrontations looming.
