Indonesian authorities have arrested a 42-year-old Peruvian woman accused of attempting to smuggle cocaine and ecstasy worth nearly $70,000 into Bali, hidden in her underwear and a sex toy.

The suspect, identified only by the initials N.S., was intercepted at Ngurah Rai International Airport on August 12 after customs officials grew suspicious of her behavior during routine checks.

Upon inspection, officers discovered 1.4 kilograms of cocaine and 43 ecstasy pills concealed in unusual hiding places — six drug packets wrapped in black duct tape inside a green bra, three similar packets in her underwear, and additional narcotics stuffed inside a sex toy she had inserted in her body, police said.

According to Bali Police Narcotics Director Radiant, the woman admitted she had been paid $19,000 by a contact she met on the dark web in April to deliver the drugs. She had flown from Barcelona with a stopover in Doha before arriving in Bali.

The woman now faces charges under Indonesia’s strict drug laws, which carry the death penalty for trafficking. Although executions have been suspended since 2017, Indonesia maintains some of the harshest narcotics penalties in the world.

The arrest comes weeks after three British nationals escaped the death penalty but were jailed for smuggling cocaine disguised as packets of Angel Delight dessert mix into Indonesia.
