Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking virtually at the Rozgar Mela on Saturday, asserted that inequality in India is decreasing rapidly, with the nation making steady progress toward greater equality and opportunity. Citing a recent World Bank report, he said India is now being recognised globally as one of the most equitable nations.
The Rozgar Mela, a key government initiative to boost employment, saw over 51,000 appointment letters distributed—Indian Railways alone contributed more than 40,000 posts. PM Modi highlighted how such initiatives are empowering the youth and accelerating economic growth.
Reflecting on India’s global image, he said, “The world is acknowledging India’s two boundless strengths—democracy and demography,” and linked this to the positive reception he received during his recent five-nation tour. He attributed this progress to the government’s policy reforms and the rising potential of India’s youth.
Modi also noted that nearly 250 million people have been lifted out of poverty during his tenure, and praised citizens who have actively leveraged government schemes to improve their lives. He referenced an ILO report which states that 900 million Indians have been covered under welfare schemes in the past decade, including PM Surya Ghar Yojana, Drone Didi, and Lakhpati Didi.
He further highlighted India’s advancements in defence production, which has now exceeded ₹1.25 lakh crore, along with significant growth in the technology, electronics, and transport sectors.
Concluding his address, PM Modi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development and social security for all.
