Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Kartavya Bhawan office complex, a modern addition to Delhi’s Central Vista administrative area. This advanced facility will bring together major government ministries under one roof—including the Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of MSME, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser.
Unlike older buildings such as Shastri Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, and Nirman Bhawan—erected from the 1950s to the 1970s—Kartavya Bhawan is crafted to lower ongoing repair and maintenance costs, boost productivity, elevate employee well-being, and enhance the quality and speed of public service delivery.
Designed for sustainability, Kartavya Bhawan features:
High energy efficiency and special glass windows to keep interiors cool and minimize noise.
Solar panels generating over 534,000 units of electricity each year.
Rainwater harvesting and a zero-discharge waste management system.
Dedicated electric vehicle charging points.
The building is also equipped with modern digital infrastructure: secure, IT-ready workspaces; ID card-based access controls; integrated electronic surveillance; and a centralized command system. These advancements are set to foster better coordination and collaboration between government ministries, supporting a more effective administrative ecosystem.
