Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his visit to Manipur’s Churachandpur district, appealed directly to groups engaged in violence to abandon conflict and embrace peace. His intervention comes amid rising concerns over prolonged instability in the state.
“Manipur cannot heal with bloodshed,” Modi said, addressing the gathering. “Peace and reconciliation are the pillars on which the state’s future must be built.” He urged all communities to set aside differences and unite in the interest of stability.
The Prime Minister also acknowledged the hardships faced by ordinary citizens due to the unrest. He stressed that violence has only brought suffering, economic setbacks, and mistrust, while lasting peace would ensure prosperity and inclusive growth.
While the Centre has promised stronger security measures, Modi maintained that true peace cannot be imposed—it must come through understanding and cooperation. His call reflects an attempt to restart dialogue and rebuild faith among Manipur’s fractured communities.
