The Supreme Court of India has granted content creator Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) permission to reclaim his passport for international travel after police in Assam and Maharashtra confirmed that investigations into his remarks on the show India’s Got Latent were complete. The court instructed the Maharashtra Cyber Crime Bureau to release his passport on "reasonable terms and conditions," allowing him to continue his work-related travel while ensuring his ongoing cooperation with authorities until charge sheets are filed.
Investigations against Allahbadia have concluded in both states, though others named in the FIRs, including comedian Samay Raina and influencers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija, remain under scrutiny. Allahbadia must comply with terms set by Maharashtra police, likely including periodic check-ins and restrictions on case-related content. The case began with a February 2025 FIR accusing Allahbadia of making "vulgar" comments during a YouTube episode. While Allahbadia was briefly banned from podcasting, he resumed in March under strict decency guidelines. The court will later consider consolidating multiple FIRs to avoid delays, with the case highlighting tensions between free speech and public morality laws.
There have been mixed reactions regarding the case. Some felt that taking Allahbadia’s passport and imposing restrictions was wrong, while others believed that, as an influencer and creator, he should have been more cautious and that he deserved appropriate punishment. Not long ago, we also saw how Allahbadia spoke about all the backlash they experienced. Allahbadia responded to his fans via live streaming on Instagram, with many asking how the controversy affected him. In his reply, he mentioned, "Lost: health, money, opportunity, reputation, mental health, peace, parents' contentment, and much more. Gained: transformation, spiritual growth, toughness. Will slowly work towards getting back everything that's lost. Let the work speak."
