SBI’s Alleged Sarcastic Comment on Mallya’s Tweet Is Fake!
Published on

After Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their first-ever IPL title in 2025, social media was abuzz with celebrations. One of the most talked-about messages came from former RCB owner Vijay Mallya, who posted on X (formerly Twitter):
“RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years. Superb campaign right through the 2025 tournament… Many congratulations! Ee sala cup named.”

What went viral shortly after was a screenshot showing a supposed reply from the State Bank of India (SBI) to Mallya’s post, reading: “Sir, come to India. We will celebrate together.” The message sparked widespread amusement due to Mallya’s ongoing legal and financial issues with Indian banks, including SBI.

So is it true that SBI really commented on Vijay Mallya’s tweet?

However, fact-checking platforms such as Grok have confirmed that the screenshot is fake. There is no record of this comment on SBI’s official X account (@TheOfficialSBI), and no credible news outlet has reported any such interaction.

Additionally, the tone of the alleged comment—casual and sarcastic—is completely out of character for SBI, which maintains a formal and professional communication style. This makes it clear that the screenshot was digitally altered and circulated as a joke.
