A segmental launching gantry at a bullet train project site near Ahmedabad skidded from its position, disrupting train services along the adjoining railway track. The incident, which occurred around 11 pm on Sunday at Vatva, did not result in any casualties or damage to the already erected structure, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) confirmed. Restoration efforts are currently underway.

As a result of the incident, 38 trains were cancelled, and seven others, including the Vande Bharat Express between Gandhinagar and Mumbai, Shatabdi Express between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, and Ekta Nagar-Ahmedabad Heritage Special, were partially cancelled. The affected railway line also caused a breakdown of Overhead Electric Equipment (OHE), further disrupting train movement.

Western Railway officials, including the General Manager, rushed to the site to oversee the restoration work and ensure the resumption of train services. Fortunately, no injuries to passengers or railway staff were reported. Passengers of the affected trains were provided tea, snacks, and water bottles at various stations, with the assistance of local charitable organizations and NGOs. A helpline has been set up to support passengers.

The incident occurred at the NHSRCL worksite near Geratpur Vatva, where a segmental launching gantry, which had just completed launching a concrete girder, accidentally skidded. NHSRCL officials, along with police and fire services, are monitoring the situation. Some trains, including the Vatva-Borivali Express, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central Express, and others, were cancelled or rescheduled in the aftermath of the disruption.
