Six IT professionals were arrested on charges of drug consumption after officials from the Excise Department raided a birthday party at a farmhouse near Hyderabad on Saturday night. The operation, conducted by the Excise State Task Force (STF) acting on specific intelligence, targeted a farmhouse in Chevella on the city’s outskirts.

According to an official release, the STF was tipped off about the possibility of illegal substance abuse at the private party. Upon raiding the venue, they seized LSD blots, 20.21 grams of hashish, multiple liquor bottles, and three cars believed to have been used to transport attendees and possibly the contraband. The Excise team used drug detection kits to test all party attendees on site, and every individual tested positive for drug consumption.

The six arrested are reportedly employed in the IT sector, indicating the continued infiltration of drug abuse within different segments of urban professional society. The Excise Department confirmed that two individuals, including the owner of the farmhouse where the event took place, managed to evade arrest and are currently absconding. The authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the missing suspects.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Department added that further investigations are underway, which may include tracing the source of the drugs, the network involved in their procurement and distribution, and whether such parties represent a larger trend or operate as isolated incidents.
