Sonam Claimed She Was Drugged, Taken to UP: Honeymoon Murder Probe Deepens

In a chilling turn of events in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who was arrested for allegedly killing her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, has claimed she was drugged and taken to Uttar Pradesh, presenting herself as a victim.

The couple had gone missing on May 23 while on their honeymoon, prompting a search operation. The investigation escalated when Raja’s body was discovered in a deep gorge on June 2, turning the case into a suspected murder.

A week later, Sonam "surrendered" at a dhaba on the Ghazipur-Varanasi road around 3 am and informed her family. Acting on the tip-off, Madhya Pradesh police coordinated with their counterparts in Ghazipur, leading to her arrest.

Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General (Law and Order) Amitabh Yash revealed that Sonam had told the police she was drugged and brought to Ghazipur to mislead the investigation. She reportedly informed her family of her whereabouts, anticipating police involvement.

Following her arrest, Sonam was taken for a medical examination and then placed in a One-Stop Centre. Meghalaya police are now interrogating her and carrying out the necessary legal procedures to further unravel the case.
