The death of Indian techie Mohammed Nizamuddin in Santa Clara, California, has triggered outrage and grief. While police described him as an armed aggressor who ignored commands after allegedly stabbing his roommate, his family alleged a hasty and excessive response. Neighbours said a domestic quarrel spiraled into tragedy. His father, a retired teacher from Telangana’s Mahabubnagar, said the family was informed two weeks after the September 3 incident. They have appealed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for help in bringing his body back to India, as questions remain over the police’s actions.
