A two-and-a-half-year-old girl was reportedly raped near the Alambagh Metro station in Lucknow, one of the most congested areas due to the presence of the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT). The victim, a child of pavement dwellers from Unnao, was taken while she was sleeping beside her father and mother on the street early Thursday morning, according to police reports. The perpetrator remains at large, and police teams have been established to locate him.

It is important to note that this incident took place near the location where a woman from Ayodhya was kidnapped and murdered following a failed sexual assault attempt by an e-rickshaw driver and his brother earlier in March. That case had also heightened concerns regarding women's safety in the city.
Doctors at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) trauma centre reported that the minor has suffered severe injuries to her private areas and requires immediate surgical intervention. Her condition is still critical.
Dr. Rajiv Dixit, the medical superintendent of Rajnarayan Lokbandhu Hospital, stated that the girl was initially admitted to their facility at approximately 7:30 am. "She was in distress and was promptly transferred to the emergency ICU. A team of specialists, which included a gynaecologist, paediatrician, and surgeon, performed initial evaluations. Given the seriousness of her condition, she was referred to KGMU by noon," he mentioned.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Ashish Srivastava, verified that a first information report (FIR) was filed at Alambagh police station, and a case was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 65 (2) and POCSO sections 5(h) and 6. "The family initially brought the child to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where medical professionals confirmed the rape and alerted the One Stop Centre. Following this, the police were informed," Srivastava stated.
"Five police teams have been established to locate the perpetrator. Senior officials are overseeing the investigation on-site," he added.
