Trump in “Excellent Cognitive and Physical Health” Following Annual Exam, Says White House Physician

Washington, D.C.: U.S. President Donald Trump has been declared in "excellent cognitive and physical health" following his first annual physical of his second presidential term, according to a detailed medical memo released Sunday by the White House.

The nearly five-hour examination took place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, and was conducted by Captain Sean Barbabella, a U.S. Navy emergency physician with service experience in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The assessment confirmed that the 78-year-old president, who survived an assassination attempt in July that left scarring on his right ear, continues to exhibit robust cardiac, neurological, pulmonary, and general physical function.

“President Trump remains in excellent health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief,” Dr Barbabella noted in the memo.

Among the highlights of the medical report:

  • Cognitive Test: Trump scored 30/30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), a screening tool used to detect early signs of dementia and cognitive decline.

  • Neurological Exam: No signs of depression, anxiety, or neurological issues were observed.

  • Cardiac Health: Cardiac function was described as normal, with no abnormalities.

  • Weight and Height: Trump currently weighs 224 lbs (101 kg) and stands 6'2.5", placing him in the overweight category, though no longer obese, after shedding nearly 20 lbs since 2019.

  • Medical History: Conditions include controlled hypercholesterolemia, rosacea, a benign colon polyp, and a previous COVID-19 infection.

  • Medications: Trump is taking Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe for cholesterol management, Aspirin for cardiac prevention, and Mometasone cream for a skin condition.

  • Lifestyle: The report credited his good joint and muscular health to an “active lifestyle,” including frequent golf victories.

During a media interaction aboard Air Force One, Trump expressed confidence in his health, saying, “I got every answer right” on the cognitive test and described himself as having “a good heart, a good soul, a very good soul.”

The update is the first public health report on Trump since the July 2024 assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he sustained a grazed ear wound. At the time, former White House physician Ronny Jackson said the injury was superficial.

The health report stands in stark contrast to Trump's past criticisms of rival Joe Biden, particularly on cognitive performance. Biden, now 82, has declined to take or disclose results of a cognitive test during his presidency.

As the 2024 election rematch looms, Trump's clean bill of health could offer his campaign a fresh boost, reinforcing his repeated claims of being physically and mentally fit to lead.
