US President Donald Trump addressed the recent downturn in both American and global markets, suggesting that sometimes "you have to take medicine to fix something." Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington from a weekend of golfing in Florida, Trump did not shy away from his tariff plans, signaling his commitment to his trade agenda.
Trump reiterated his stance that the United States has been mistreated by other countries, blaming the previous Joe Biden-led administration for the trade imbalances. "We have been treated so badly by other countries because we had stupid leadership that allowed this to happen," he remarked.
Regarding the current turmoil in financial markets, Trump expressed uncertainty, stating, “What’s going to happen to the markets, I can’t tell you. But our country is much stronger".
The president also revealed that he had engaged with world leaders over the weekend about the issue of tariffs, asserting that they are eager to reach a deal with the United States.
