Two Held in Manipur After Fatal Assam Rifles Ambush; Governor Assesses Security

Manipur Police have arrested three militants from different banned outfits and an arms dealer in a major crackdown, officials confirmed on Sunday. Two insurgents of the proscribed PREPAK group, identified as Thokchom Manimatum Singh (20) and Laishram Premsagar Singh (24), were apprehended in Bishnupur district for allegedly extorting money from locals, businesses, and schools. In Imphal East, a 62-year-old People’s Liberation Army cadre, Adhikarimayum Ramkumar Sharma, was also taken into custody. Meanwhile, an arms dealer, Phijam Chetanjit Singh (33), was arrested in Imphal West with a self-loading rifle, two magazines, and 96 live cartridges.
