A tragic case of suspected honor violence unfolded late Sunday night in Palia Golpur village, Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. At around 11 p.m., a 16-year-old boy, Sanjay Nishad, was stabbed to death, and his friend Kunal (22) was seriously injured in a violent altercation.
According to Kadipur SHO Shyam Sundar, the accused—identified as Ghanshyam, attacked the two boys after allegedly catching his daughter with Sanjay in a compromising situation. Ghanshyam, who reportedly opposed their long-term relationship, flew into a rage and stabbed both Sanjay and Kunal. Sanjay died on the spot, while Kunal was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police arrested Ghanshyam soon after the incident. An FIR has been registered based on a complaint filed by Sanjay's father, Sunil Nishad. The accused remains in custody as investigations continue.
Authorities say the attack appears to be a case of honor-related violence—an issue that continues to plague conservative communities where romantic relationships outside family approval are often met with hostility.
Officials are urging anyone with further information to step forward and assist in the investigation. The case has renewed calls for greater awareness, legal intervention, and protection for young individuals who often become targets of such deeply rooted social prejudices.
