US Vice President J.D. Vance Says India-Pakistan Conflict "None of Our Business" Amid Rising Tensions

Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following a series of military exchanges, US Vice President J.D. Vance has stated that the ongoing conflict is “fundamentally none of our business,” signaling a clear stance of non-intervention by the United States. His comments come shortly after Pakistan launched a failed attempt to strike Indian military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and several other cities, which were intercepted by India’s air defense systems.

In an interview with Fox News, Vance—known for his non-interventionist foreign policy views—reaffirmed that the US would not get directly involved in the conflict. “What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate a little bit, but we're not going to get involved in the middle of a war that has nothing to do with America's ability to control it,” Vance said. He added that the US would continue to rely on diplomatic channels to ease tensions in the region.

“Our hope and expectation is that this is not going to spiral into a broader regional war or, God forbid, a nuclear conflict,” Vance noted, adding that current intelligence does not indicate such a scenario is likely.

US President Donald Trump echoed similar sentiments, urging both India and Pakistan to cease retaliatory actions. Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “They have gone tit for tat, so hopefully they can stop now. If I can do anything to help, I will be there.”

The remarks followed India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a military campaign targeting nine terror hubs in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan’s Punjab province. This was in retaliation for a deadly terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani military responded with artillery and mortar fire along the Line of Control, further intensifying the already volatile situation.

As tensions remain high in South Asia, the US appears committed to a diplomatic, hands-off approach, even as both nuclear-armed neighbors exchange military fire.
