In a shocking twist to a honeymoon tragedy, Meghalaya Police have arrested Sonam Raghuvanshi, wife of Indore-based Raja Raghuvanshi, for allegedly orchestrating his murder just days after their wedding. According to police, Sonam hired three contract killers and fled, remaining untraceable for nearly two weeks. She later surrendered at Nandganj Police Station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
Three other suspects—two from Indore and one from UP—were nabbed in overnight raids. Meghalaya DGP I Nongrang confirmed that the arrested men confessed to being hired by Sonam. The operation is ongoing to locate additional suspects.
Raja’s body was found in a gorge near Cherrapunji. Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma praised police for cracking the case within a week. Meanwhile, Raja’s family has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to order a CBI inquiry into the murder.
