Will Saudi Arabia support Pakistan if there is war with India? Pakistan Defence Minister Speaks Out Amid IND Tensions

A few days after signing a new defense pact with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that Saudi Arabia would back Pakistan in the event of a war with India. In an interview with Geo TV, he said, “Yes, absolutely. There’s no doubt about it.”

Asif explained that the pact ensures strategic mutual assistance, meaning both countries agree to respond together if either is attacked. “If Pakistan or Saudi Arabia is attacked, it will be treated as an attack on both,” he said.

He emphasized the pact is defensive, akin to NATO, and not intended for offensive action. Asif also hinted that Pakistan’s nuclear weapons could be available to Saudi Arabia, despite official policy limiting their use against India.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following India’s counterterror Operation Sindoor in May, after the Pakistan-backed Pahalgam attack.
