‘Will Watch in Burqa’: Nitesh Rane Mocks Aaditya Thackeray With controversial Remark Ahead of IND-PAK Match

The India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash in Dubai has sparked a political storm in Maharashtra. BJP minister Nitesh Rane on Saturday took a sharp swipe at Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, mocking him amid the controversy over Uddhav Thackeray’s objection to the match.

Speaking to reporters, Rane claimed Aaditya would “secretly watch the India-Pakistan match in a burqa” and even alleged he would “shout slogans of Pakistan Zindabad.” He further ridiculed Uddhav Sena MP Sanjay Raut, saying he would be “selling tickets in black at Marine Drive.”

Rane’s remarks came after Aaditya Thackeray blasted the BCCI, calling it “anti-national” for allowing India to play Pakistan. “Is it for TV revenue, advertisements, or player fees? Pakistan boycotted matches in India—why can’t we do the same?” Aaditya asked.

Uddhav Thackeray also launched an attack on the Modi government, citing the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed. He accused the Centre of hypocrisy: “PM Modi says blood and water cannot flow together. Then how can war and sport go hand in hand?”

The fiery exchanges have once again raised questions on whether India should engage in sporting ties with Pakistan, with several opposition leaders and ex-cricketers calling for a boycott.
