Yogi Adityanath Criticizes Kunal Kamra's Remarks: Calls Them a Violation of Free Speech

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has criticized comedian Kunal Kamra’s recent remarks, calling them a violation of the right to free speech. Kamra had mocked Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister by labeling him a "gaddar" (traitor), a term that appears to reference the deputy CM’s 2022 defection from Uddhav Thackeray’s camp.

In his response, Adityanath emphasized that while freedom of expression is a fundamental right, it should not be used to launch personal attacks. "Your freedom of expression cannot be used to make personal attacks on others. Unfortunately, some individuals are exploiting this right to deepen divides in the country", said the Chief Minister.

The BJP leader, known for his fiery rhetoric, also addressed other political issues in his recent podcast appearance. He accused the Congress party of using financial backing from billionaire George Soros to influence the outcome of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, Adityanath took aim at Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for allegedly advocating a change to the constitution to extend reservations to the Muslim community.

Adityanath's comments come amid ongoing controversies surrounding political figures and their remarks on sensitive issues, reflecting the ongoing tensions in India's political landscape.
