YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra has been arrested by the police in Hisar on charges of spying for Pakistan. She is accused of being in contact with several Pakistani officials and passing sensitive Indian information to them. However, her family has denied these allegations.

Recently, Jyoti Malhotra’s father, Harish Malhotra, spoke to the media in Hisar. In the conversation, he said that on Thursday, 5-6 police officers came to their house. They searched the entire house and took all their belongings, including bank documents, laptops, mobile phones, and several other items.

"My daughter used to talk only to her friends in Pakistan."

Regarding the question about going to Pakistan, he said that his daughter went there with permission from the embassy. On the spying allegations, her father said, “When someone goes outside, can’t they have friends? My daughter only talked to her friends in Pakistan, and they had normal conversations.” He also requested the police administration to return all the belongings they had seized, saying they do not want anything else.

"I don’t know how many times Jyoti went to Pakistan"

When asked where Jyoti Malhotra lived, Harish Malhotra said she had been staying at home for the last 4-5 days, and before that, she lived elsewhere. She often traveled to Delhi, went out to make YouTube videos, and had been to Pakistan as well. He added that he did not know how many times Jyoti had gone to Pakistan.

Why was Jyoti Malhotra arrested?

As mentioned, Jyoti Rani Malhotra was taken into custody by Haryana police in Hisar following intelligence reports suggesting her involvement in espionage activities.

Hisar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kamaljeet stated that suspicious material, including communications and digital evidence allegedly shared with Pakistani officials, was recovered from her devices.

“Based on the information we had, Jyoti, daughter of Haris Kumar, was arrested under the Official Secrets Act and Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). She has been placed on a five-day remand for further investigation,” said DSP Kamaljeet. Authorities claim that Jyoti was in regular contact with a Pakistani citizen and exchanged sensitive information.
