15 years residence must for govt jobs

PANJIM: In a major policy decision, the State has made 15 years residence compulsory for government jobs, and has also issued relaxations for various categories.

As per a notification issued by Additional Secretary (Personnel) Yatindra Maralkar, spouses (non-Goan) of a Goan person, with 15 years residence, have been given a relaxation of 10 years.

“The government is pleased to decide that for all advertisements being issued for notifying vacancies in respect of Group C posts in government departments, PSUs and autonomous bodies there shall be a clause making it mandatory that the candidates applying to the post must possess 15 years residence certificate issued by the Mamlatdar,” the notification reads.

It says that State government employees working outside the State shall be exempted from producing 15 years residence certificate for their children. “A person whose marriage is registered in Goa, with the person having 15 years residence in Goa, and both are residing in the State of Goa continuously for a period of 5 years,” it reads.

Further, ex-servicemenmen/women and their spouse and children residing in Goa for two years after discharge/release/

retirement from the armed forces are also exempted from the 15 years domicile.

“These instructions shall be applicable to all the government departments/autonomous bodies corporations and grant in aid institutions of the government of Goa,” it says.
