MARGAO: In order to provide boost to tiatr at the academic level, Kala Niketan will be organising Second International Tiatr Sammelan on the theme “Pai Tiatrist: Vaur and Obheas”, on December 15, at Pai Tiatrist Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao from 9 am to 5.30 pm.
Addressing the media persons, here, on Saturday, Michael Gracias, secretary of the working committee of Tiatr Convention along with Roseferns, president, and Prince Jacob informed that the Tiatr Ratna Award will be conferred upon Fr Ave Maria Afonso, Superintendent of Police Sammy Tavares and Agnelo Alcasoas while Tiatr Bhushan Award will be conferred upon Rev Dr Richard A Rodrigues, Suman Kurade, Tony Martin and Evaristo D’Souza and Tiatr Vibhushan Award will be conferred upon Shahu Almeida, Chris Armand Presentation and Goan Welfare Association, Doha-Qatar.
“The sammelan is organised in celebration of the 150th birth anniversary of Pai Tiatrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes, co-founder of tiatr in 1892,” he informed.
The Sammelan will be inaugurated at the hands of Ramrao Wagh, principal, Kala Academy College of Drama; Damu Naik, chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and legendary Tiatrist Platilda Dias, Diana Fernandes, Cyriaco Dias and others.
The sammelan will feature three academic sessions.
