30th e-auction announced; 7.56 lakh metric tonnes extracted iron ore to be e-auctioned

PANJIM: The Directorate of Mines and Geology has announced the E-auction of 7.56 lakh metric tonnes of already extracted iron ore lying at various locations in the State.

This is the 30th E-auction by the Mines Department. The average sales price (ASP) of the 7,56,518 metric tonnes iron ore to be e-auctioned in five lots ranges from Rs 895 to Rs 1,680 per ton. The auction will take place on Metal Scrap Trading Corporation (MSTC) platform ‘www.mstcecommerce.com/auctionhome/indexnew.jsp' and it will be a single stage forward auction.

The cargo that is being auctioned is on ‘as is where is basis’ lying on the jetties or within the erstwhile mining leases or on the plots other than jetties/erstwhile mining leases and is in the form of fines, lumps and ROM (run-of-mine). The person participating should be an exporter or an end user. If the successful bidder is an exporter, then he is permitted to sell the cargo only once to the subsequent exporter or end user for captive consumption. The subsequent exporter shall only export the ore. If the successful bidder is an end user, then he is permitted to sell the ore to another end user. The subsequent end user shall only use the ore for captive consumption.

Meanwhile, the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) granted environment clearance (EC) to Block III - Monte De Sirigao Mineral Block in Sirigao village, Bicholim taluka. The mine with area of 95.6712 Ha was e-auctioned to M/s Rajaram Bandekar (Sirigao) Mines Private Limited for the production of 0.5 MTPA of iron ore. The mine was auctioned in the first phase of mining block e-auction.

Vedanta Ltd which won the first ever e-auction for Bicholim-Mulgao mining block had already started its operation. The block had got over 84 million tonnes of iron ore reserve available for extraction.
