
PANJIM: The North Goa Police on Friday arrested six persons who were allegedly involved in the assault on former Mandrem Sarpanch Mahesh Konadkar at Askawada on December 4, 2024, Wednesday.
According to police, all the alleged accused identified as Vishwanath Harijan from Old Goa, Suresh Naik from Porvorim, Sairaj Govekar from Maina-Pilerne, Franky Nadar from St Cruz, Manish Hadfadkar from Chorao and Uddesh Shetty from Panjim were arrested from Karwar, Karnataka.
Following the registration of the offence, special teams were formed to arrest all the persons associated with the crime. Looking at the sensitivity of the case, a special team was formed at the district level to arrest all the accused, police said.
Earlier, the Mandrem Police had arrested Pundalik Harijan in connection with the case and attached a vehicle allegedly used in commissioning of the crime.
The case is being investigated by PSI Kunal Naik under the guidance of Ashish Shirodkar, SDPO, Pernem, Narayan Chimulkar, PI Mandrem Police Station and overall supervision of Akshat Kaushal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North Goa.
Mandrem Police have registered a case under sections 352, 118(1), 126(2), 324(2) read with 3(5) of BNS-2023.
