MARGAO: A newly commissioned Lady Police Sub Inspector (LPSI) of the Goa Police has come under intense scrutiny following her allegedly aggressive actions, which are being linked to the tragic suicide of advocate Jayant Prabhu. The incident has sparked widespread criticism of the police force.
In response to the incident, South Goa lawyers held a meeting, where they strongly supported the family's demand for an FIR to be registered against LPSI Anoushka Parab and four other constables for abetment to suicide. The legal community is questioning the LPSI's apparent "over-enthusiasm" during her visit to the Prabhu residence.
Advocate Amey Prabhudessai expressed concern over the unnecessary ag
gression displayed by the LPSI, who reportedly kept touching her service pistol. "Jayant Prabhu was cooperating with the investigation of the case against his son. There was no need for the aggressive overtures of the Sub Inspector," Prabhudesai stated.
The absence of a station diary entry by LPSI Parab before her visit to Adv Jayant Prabhu's house has further complicated matters, casting doubt on the procedural integrity of the police operation.
Sources within the police department revealed that tensions had been escalating due to a standoff between the police and a group of lawyers supporting a female lawyer who had accused adv Jayant Prabhu's son, Pritish, of stalking. This face-off may have been building the pressure on the police to take action.
