PANJIM: After investigating for nearly five years, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) CBI has filed a closure report in Swedish and Finnish national Felix Dahl murder case citing lack of “lack of evidence”.
On Wednesday, the probe agency filed a closure report before the JMFC, Canacona in the case. The body of 22 year old Dahl was found at Patnem, Canacona on January 28, 2015. The Canacona Police had registered his death as a case of unnatural death but Dahl’s family alleged that he was murdered.
In April 2018, the Canacona Police had filed closure report in the case and the aggrieved Dahl family approached the High Court of Bombay at Goa, which ordered the CBI to register the case as murder and investigate it.
Citing “lack of evidence”, the CBI has now filed a closure report.
Young Felix Dahl had first arrived in Goa in October 2014 and stayed in Canacona. His family claims that Felix Dahl was planning to settle in Goa. According to the Dahl family, on January 26, 2015 Felix had an argument with a local and Dahl’s body was found with some injury marks on January 28, 2015 and in mysterious circumstances. Canacona police claimed that it was an accidental death in April 2018.
Despite investigating the case as murder, the CBI could not collect evidence and has now filed a closure report before the Canacona JMFC.
Reacting to the closure report, Sanna Cutter said, “Goa government, DGP and Goa Police must be very proud of their achievement yet again, for covering up another tourist murder case successfully.”
Cutter said, “This is not the first or the last time. This way of operating where no proper investigation is done to start with when a tourist body is found, is systematic and it’s served them well for many years.”
“It has always surprised us that the local population does not seem to have a problem leaving murderers walking free amongst them, time after time. Every rape, murder, assault (including sword wielding) and random killing is covered up in the world wide media and we help in that in every way we can, whenever we can. There are travel warnings on many government websites, alerting their citizens of dangers and no doubt more will follow as crimes against tourists in Goa are only increasing,” Cutter further stated.
“It’s a mistake to think that this useless CBI “investigation” will stop us in our pursuit for getting justice. It’s against any logic that Felix fell on his own, hit his head five times whiles performing “cartwheels” in the middle of the night resulting in a broken skull and his death. This case does not end here, however much the Chief Minister, DGP, Goa Police and the rest of the authorities in Goa would wish so. We will carry on with even more determination, in any way we can,” Cutter added.
