Archbishop inaugurates ‘Pilgrimage of Faith’

PANJIM: Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrão blessed and inaugurated a permanent exhibition ‘Pilgrimage of Faith’ at the Old Archiepiscopal Palace, Old Goa. 

On the occasion, Archbishop Ferrão said that this exhibition is the outcome of the initial idea of having an exhibition dedicated to St John Paul II as he had visited Goa. 

Eventually, he said, it was decided to broaden the idea so as to display the journey of the Church after Vatican Council II, the contribution of the Popes and the journey of faith of the Church in Goa after the Second Vatican Council. 

On the occasion, Fr Romeu Godinho, the convenor of the committee for the exhibition briefed about the exhibition. He mentioned that the permanent exhibition consists of five halls. The five halls display the Church before the Second Vatican Council, some characteristics of the Church post Second Vatican Council, the fruits of the Second Vatican Council in India, the visit of St John Paul II to Goa, and finally the fruits of Second Vatican Council in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. 

He further said that the exhibit displays a complete automation of lights and electronics. It’s an Internet of Things (IoT) enabled exhibition which blends history and technology to gather people from all over the world to embark on this unique journey through time. This will also be an exhibition that hosts its services on Amazon AWS (Amazon Website Service). 

Fr Leenoy Dias welcomed the gathering, Fr Alfred Vaz compered the event and Fr Henry Falcão in his words of appreciation for all those who were involved in the work of exhibition said that the permanent exhibition ‘Pilgrimage of Faith’ is a powerful means of faith formation and proclamation.
